What We Offer

Connections Place follows the Clubhouse International psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) model of recovery for person’s living with mental illness. We offer hope, encouragement, and opportunities to our members by providing a supportive environment that encourages participation and a sense of belonging. The clubhouse model focuses on individual strengths and talents, rather than illness.

Membership

Membership is free and for life for any adult living with a mental illness in the Greater Victoria area. Once an individual becomes a member, they can return to the Clubhouse after any length of absence.

Step one: Book a tour

The Clubhouse does a lot of different things, so we encourage anyone who thinks the Clubhouse might be a good fit for them to book a tour and come talk to us in person. Then we can show you around the space, find out where you’re at, and tell you about the programs and areas of the Clubhouse that are most relevant to you.

If you haven’t yet had a tour of the Clubhouse, you can book one using our online form, or by contacting us directly.

Step two: Application Package

We offer a copy of our application package at the end of each tour, but if you’d like to fill it out early you can find it here.

The application package includes 3 documents:

– our Application Form, to be filled out by the prospective member

– our Referal Form, to be filled out by a mental health professional

– our Personal Information & Protection of Privacy waiver, to be read & signed by the prospective member.

If you need help with the application package, let us know & we will do what we can to help.

Step three: Now you’re a member

Although the Clubhouse is open 8:30-4:00 Monday-Friday (plus social events), members can come & go as often or as infrequently as they like.

Want to be here all week? Go for it.

Want to only come in once a month for 5 minutes at a time? Works for us.

During our regular hours (8:30-4:00) the Clubhouse runs what is called the Work Ordered Day – this means the work needed to operate the Clubhouse is being done. Members can participate in that work as much or as little as they like- including not at all. Many of our members choose to come in just to socialize, while others enjoy taking part in the work. It’s all up to you!

In addition to the work of running the Clubhouse, the Work Ordered Day is also when we make time to help members reach their goals in any number of areas- including, but not limited to, education-related, employment-related, personal wellness, life skills, building confidence. Even if all you need is a friendly ear to listen to what you’re going through, we’re here.
