Dear Jackie and Howard,

I am pleased to join with my colleague Carole James, MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill, in expressing my enthusiastic support for the establishment of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Pathways Clubhouse in Victoria.  Opening one here on the South Island would be an enormous benefit for those persons living with mental illness in our community.

In my nine years as an MLA, I have heard of many instances where the CMHA Clubhouse Model has made a difference in the communities it serves.  The program is fabulous at providing stability, skills and support.  It helps those it serves to take back control of their health with a burturing environment that focuses on the person's strangths and talents, rather than their illness.

The personal support, friendship, wonderful sense of belonging and -- of course! -- hope that Pathways provides helps the people it serves reach for their potential and build positive, productive lives.  I strongly believe it would be an exceptional asset to have a Pathways Clubhouse on the South Island, and am pleased to offer my encouragement and support.  Thank you for all you do in our community.

Gratefully yours,

Maurine Karagianis
