Our New Partnership with the Saanich Legacy Foundation
We are very pleased to announce that Moms Like Us is now able to accept your donations through the Saanich Legacy Foundation (SLF) and we are honoured to be partnered with such a reputable and impacting foundation in the Victoria, BC community.
The Saanich Legacy Foundation was founded in 1999. It is a non-profit charitable foundation led by a volunteer Board of Directors who recognize the efforts of many grassroots groups, organizations and community-based projects that need financial assistance.
Moms Like Us is committed to establishing a Clubhouse International for Southern Vancouver Island. This project complements the foundation’s goal of “creating a strong, vibrant and caring community.”
Recipient of the 2014 Conrad Hilton Humanitarian Price, Fountain House/Clubhouse International is dedicated to the recovery of men and women (18 and over) with a mental illness by providing opportunities for members to live work and learn, while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support.
Joel D. Corcoran, Executive Director of Clubhouse International explains: “Establishing an Accredited Clubhouse in every town and city in the world – in much the same way that every community has a library, post office or community centre – would provide a local base of support for the millions of people living with mental illness. It would widen the tent of our society. In place of isolation, hopelessness and despair, the expanding ranks of Clubhouse members would experience community, employment, hope and reason to wake up in the morning.”
Moms Like Us is honoured that the Saanich Legacy Foundation believes in our goal to bring this cost-saving, life-saving and life rebuilding model of rehabilitation to the region.
Proceeds will go towards the development of a Clubhouse International.
